CDCI Research is looking for qualified Transcribers to transcribe archival and historical documents. A key to success in this role will include an ability to read historical handwriting, strong attention to detail, and high typing speeds. Work can be undertaken remotely.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of a Research Manger and/or Senior Researchers, the Transcriber will be responsible for working in databases and providing transcription services for handwritten documents. This role may also include some data entry tasking as well.
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Compile transcriptions of archival and historical documents
Perform data entry as required
Other duties as assigned/required
Experience and Qualifications:
Post-secondary diploma/degree in Humanities, Social Sciences, or Law
Demonstrated experience in reading handwritten documents and preparing transcripts
Ability to work in a database
High words per minute (WPM) typing speeds
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to work and communicate effectively within a team environment
Eligible to obtain PWGSC security clearance
AdditionalDesiredExperience and Qualifications:
Eligible to obtain or currently holds a PWGSC security clearance
Bilingual (English and French)
Experience working in a litigation support environment
Experience undertaking data entry and/or document management tasking
