Job Overview

Reporting directly to the Principal, the Student Supervision Monitor performs as assigned to support student achievement, such as supervising and monitoring students to ensure their safety, monitoring attendance, and maintaining data and records related to attendance. Liaise with staff, administration, and students to support student attendance and behaviour as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist school administration to maintain a safe learning environment by monitoring and supporting students in a variety of settings and situations including but not limited to: lunch periods, recess, hallways, bus loading area, cafeterias, libraries, and classrooms, but inside and outside of the school building.
  • In consultation with school administration, monitor and help manage student behaviour and attendance. Communicate consequences to students as necessary and appropriate as per school attendance procedures and behaviour expectations. Maintain records such as attendance and behaviour.
  • Refer students to administration, the student success team, or other school support as necessary to support student needs (e.g. Attendance/behaviour, social conflicts, personal needs, lockers, etc.).
  • Create reports for administration and the student success team to support student needs such as detention lists, persistent truancy, referral lists etc.
  • Collaborate with administration, teaching staff, support staff, students and parents to support student attendance, behaviour and learning as necessary.

Qualifications

  • Minimum completion of secondary school, plus completion of additional short courses for behaviour management, conflict resolution, and clerical skills.
  • Minimum of three (3) months of related experience working with adolescents, preferably in a school setting.
  • Demonstrated experience working with technology.
  • Satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Background check.
