We are currently hiring a Senior IT Project Manager to support a large-scale Application Portfolio Modernization (APM) program within a public sector environment. This role will focus on managing complex application migration and modernization initiatives end-to-end.
About the Role
As a Senior IT Project Manager, you will be responsible for planning, executing, and delivering large, complex IT projects focused on application upgrades, remediation, replacement, and retirement. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure all applications meet current technology, security, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership & Coordination
- Lead cross-functional teams and act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, vendors, and technical teams
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and technical teams to ensure solution feasibility
Planning & Execution
- Develop and manage detailed project plans, schedules, and resource allocation using MS Project
- Ensure projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget
Risk & Change Management
- Identify risks related to legacy systems and implement mitigation strategies
- Support organizational change management for transitions to modern platforms
Stakeholder Management
- Communicate project updates, risks, and progress to senior leadership in business-friendly terms
- Coordinate UAT processes and secure business approvals
Required Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in IT, Computer Science, or related field
- Minimum 5+ years of experience managing large and complex IT projects
- Strong experience with both Waterfall and Agile methodologies
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Project or similar tools
- Solid understanding of:
- Application and database development lifecycle
- Software and infrastructure evaluation and acquisition
- IT service delivery frameworks (SDLC, ITIL, COBIT)
- Experience with budgeting, financial planning, and contract/vendor management
Mandatory Certification
- One of the following certifications is required:
- PMP / CAPM / CSM / PPM / MPM
(Candidates without certification will not be considered)
Nice to Have
- Experience with Application Portfolio Management (APM) initiatives
Work Arrangement
- Hybrid model: Minimum 2 days onsite per week
- 35 hours per week (7 hours/day)
