Job Description

RESEARCH INSTITUTE OF THE MUHC

The Research Institute of the McGill University Health Centre (RI-MUHC) is a world-renowned biomedical and hospital research centre. Located in Montreal, Quebec, the Institute is the research arm of the McGill University Health Centre (MUHC) affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine at McGill University. The RI-MUHC is supported in part by the Fonds de recherche du Québec – Santé (FRQS).

Position Summary

Department / Research Program: Uro-Onco / Cancer Research Program

The project is entitled: Tracing specific circulating tumour (ct) DNA and implementation in prostate cancer patients. The incumbent will be working under the direction of the principal investigator et will be under the responsability of research associates involved in the overall research program and blood assays to perform. The work will imply several experimental steps to learn about, optimize, and then to repeat on plama from prostate cancer patients à diverse steps of their disease.

General Duties

  • Collect and fractionate blood,
  • Isolate the circulating free DNA from plasma,
  • Develop and optimize digital PCR tests for altered genes identified in patients with advanced prostate cancer, alone or in combination (multiplexing),
  • Analyze results and report them in Tables or Figures, as applicable.

Education / Experience

Education: Diplome of College Studies (DEC)

Field of Study: Medical Biology with teaching molecular aspects and practice in the lab.

Other education considered an asset for this position: Bachelor ou Master in Molecular Biology

Work Experience: Knowledge of and experience in diverse methods to analyze patients’ samples, including by PCR.

Professional Membership: ☒ Yes: If applicable for medical technologists drawing blood.

Required Skills

  • Advanced knowledge of oral French is required.
  • An intermediate knowledge of oral and written English is required, as the position requires regular and complex contact with researchers or international students who are exclusively proficient in English.
  • Ability to process patients’ samples and to work in biobanking.

Additional information

Status: Temporary, full time (35-hour workweek)

Pay Scale: $45,518.20 – $84,484.40. Commensurate with education and experience

Work Shift: Monday to Friday 9:00am to 5:00pm

Work Site: Glen Site, 1001 Decarie Blvd.
