Position Summary

The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordinating, administering, supporting, and delivering e4c’s school-based programs within assigned schools. This includes:

  • The School Nutrition Program : Providing nutritious meals and snacks each school day to thousands of children and youth in high-needs or socially vulnerable schools.
  • Out of School Time Programming (e.g., Young Chefs): Offering high-quality programs that help children and youth develop fundamental life skills.

A key aspect of this role is building strong relationships with school staff, students, partners, and frontline program staff to collaborate effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and achieve program goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Young Chefs and School Nutrition Programs, ensuring nutritious, culturally appropriate, and fiscally sustainable meals and skill-building activities for school-age children.
  • Coordinate program registrations, referrals, and daily operations in collaboration with schools, staff, students, and families.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train Nutrition Support Workers, volunteers, and student placements to ensure program goals, safety protocols, and Alberta Nutrition Guidelines for Children and Youth are met.
  • Develop educational resources, programming materials, and menus, maintaining program manuals, handbooks, and other resources.
  • Manage administrative tasks including budgeting, reporting, payroll, invoicing, expense tracking, and financial reconciliations.
  • Foster effective communication and strong relationships with school staff, students, parents, volunteers, community partners, and the e4c team.
  • Participate in recruitment, selection, staff training, meetings, and strategic planning to support program growth and organizational objectives.

Qualifications

Education

  • Post-secondary education in Sociology, Political Science, Education, Child and Youth Care, Nutrition, Food Science, Community Development or other related fields.

Certification

  • AHS Food Handler Certification
  • Standard First Aid and CPR
  • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License and vehicle
  • Proof of vehicle insurance (min. $2 million liability), registration and 3-year drivers abstract
  • Mental Health First Aid considered an asset
  • Trauma-Informed or Harm Reduction training considered an asset

Experience

  • 1+ years experience in coordinating and delivering programs geared to children/youth while collaborating with multiple stakeholders within a school setting
  • Skilled in engaging school communities, children, and diverse populations in a non-profit setting.
  • Experience in leadership, coaching, and mentoring staff and volunteers.
  • Knowledge of food service management, menu planning, food security, and safe handling practices.
  • Experience with budget analysis, financial management, data collection, and reporting.
  • Proficient in using computer applications to support program administration.
  • Strong ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with stakeholders, partners, and community members.
