Your Opportunity:

The Laboratory Equipment Coordinator plays a key enabling role in supporting Alberta Precision Laboratories (APL) by providing coordination, analytical, and administrative support for laboratory equipment planning initiatives. Reporting within the Business Performance Office, this position supports major and minor capital projects by ensuring equipment-related information is well organized, accurate, and available to support effective planning and decision-making. This role offers a valuable opportunity to contribute to complex, system-wide laboratory initiatives without carrying direct budgetary or project leadership accountability. The successful candidate will work closely with the Equipment Project Manager, laboratory stakeholders, and project teams to support timely, informed, and well-coordinated delivery of equipment planning activities across APL.


Description:

Reporting to the Program Lead, Business Performance, the Laboratory Equipment Coordinator provides project coordination and analytical support throughout the laboratory equipment planning lifecycle. This role supports assigned initiatives by coordinating meetings, preparing documentation, tracking action items, and maintaining organized project records. The Laboratory Equipment Coordinator assists with the development and maintenance of laboratory equipment lists, inventories, and planning tools, supports the collection of equipment requirements, and documents equipment specifications, space needs, and infrastructure considerations. The role also conducts environmental scans and background research related to laboratory equipment, technology trends, and best practices, summarizing findings to support business cases, briefing materials, and informed decision-making. In addition, the position supports stakeholder communication and collaboration by coordinating information requests, drafting project updates, and facilitating alignment across internal teams and external vendors. The Laboratory Equipment Coordinator does not hold budgetary or approval authority, but supports procurement and financial tracking activities as directed, contributing to the smooth and effective delivery of equipment planning initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

Diploma or degree from a recognized two-year post-secondary program in Project Management, Health Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field. Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in a project coordination, administrative, or analytical support role. Experience supporting projects in healthcare, laboratory services, or capital planning environments. Strong organizational, documentation, and communication skills. Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and collaboration tools. Ability to manage competing priorities, work independently, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.


Additional Required Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to support multiple stakeholders and coordinate activities across multidisciplinary team. Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate, version-controlled documentation. Analytical skills to support data gathering, environmental scans, and summary reporting.


Preferred Qualifications:

Experience supporting equipment planning or capital projects. Familiarity with laboratory operations or diagnostic environments. Experience conducting environmental scans or research. Exposure to project management methodologies or tools.
