Position Summary:
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Handyman to manage the weekly maintenance and repair needs of multiple commercial properties throughout Virginia Beach and surrounding cities. This role requires hands-on expertise in electrical work, painting, and HVAC systems. The ideal candidate is proactive, self-motivated and self- sufficient, and works well in a team environment. Some evening work may be required to accommodate commercial tenant schedules or urgent maintenance needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine maintenance and preventative repairs on commercial buildings
- Diagnose and fix minor electrical issues (e.g., lighting systems, switches, outlets)
- Perform interior and exterior painting, drywall patching, and surface repairs
- Inspect and service HVAC components (filters, thermostats, air flow, minor diagnostics)
- Respond to maintenance requests in a timely and professional manner
- Occasionally work one evening per week to meet tenant or facility access needs
- Maintain cleanliness and safety on all job sites
- Communicate clearly with property managers and building supervisors
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of commercial handyman or facilities maintenance experience
- Demonstrated skills in electrical, painting, and HVAC maintenance
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time independently
- Team-oriented with a strong work ethic and professional demeanor
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Able to pass a background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- HVAC EPA Certification
- Experience in office buildings, retail centers, or similar commercial settings
