Responsibilities
- Operate utility locating equipment to precisely identify underground cables, pipes, and other utilities before drilling begins
- Interpret blueprints, site plans, and land survey data to understand project layouts and locate underground infrastructure accurately
- Assist with field service tasks such as setting up equipment, hydro vaccing, and maintaining tools to ensure optimal performance
- Support directional drilling operations by marking locations, guiding drill paths, and verifying alignment with project specifications
- Conduct land surveying activities to gather accurate site measurements and assist in mapping underground utility routes
- Operate heavy machinery such as backhoes and excavators to facilitate excavation and material handling on construction sites
- Follow safety protocols diligently, including cabling management and adherence to construction site regulations, to maintain a secure work environment
Requirements
- CLASS A CDL with tankers is REQUIRED
- Proven service technician experience or background in utility locating
- Hands-on experience with field service operations in telecom construction or utility environments
- Ability to read blueprints confidently and interpret technical drawings for accurate utility location
- Experience operating heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators, or similar machinery is preferred
- Knowledge of cabling installation techniques and underground utility systems
- Strong understanding of construction site safety standards and procedures
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting equipment or site issues
