The Automotive Controller is responsible for overseeing all financial aspects of the automotive dealership or group. This includes financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, cost control,
inventory management
, compliance, and
strategic planning
. The Controller plays a key role in ensuring the financial health and success of the dealership.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Reporting:
Prepare accurate and timely financial reports, including profit and loss statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements. Provide analysis and insights into financial performance to support decision-making processes. Budgeting and Forecasting:
Develop annual budgets and forecasts in
collaboration
with
senior management
. Monitor performance against budget and forecast, identifying variances and recommending corrective actions as needed. Cost Control:
Implement cost control measures to optimize expenses and improve profitability. Monitor expenses closely and identify opportunities for
cost reduction
or efficiency improvements.
Inventory Management
:
Oversee
inventory management
processes, including purchasing, pricing, and stocking. Ensure inventory levels are optimized to meet demand while minimizing carrying costs. Compliance:
Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal policies and procedures. Stay
up-to-date
on changes in regulations that may affect the automotive industry.
Financial Analysis
:
Conduct
financial analysis
to support decision-making processes, such as evaluating the financial viability of investments or initiatives. Provide insights and recommendations based on financial data and analysis. Team Management:
Supervise and mentor finance team members, including accountants, bookkeepers, and financial analysts. Provide guidance, training, and support to ensure the team performs effectively. Relationship Management:
Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including banks, auditors, and vendors. Negotiate terms and agreements to benefit the dealership or group.
Strategic Planning
:
Collaborate with
senior management
to develop strategic plans and initiatives to drive growth and profitability. Provide financial expertise and insights to support strategic decision-making.
Continuous Improvement
:
Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiency enhancements within the finance function. Implement best practices and technology solutions to streamline processes and improve effectiveness.
Qualifications:
Proven experience as a Controller in the automotive industry 3 + years CPA is preferred Strong understanding of automotive dealership operations and financial processes. Proficiency in financial management software and MS Excel. Excellent analytical and
problem-solving skills
. Effective
communication
and
leadership
abilities. Detail-oriented and highly organized.
