General responsibilities:
The Catering Sales Manager is primarily responsible for detailing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and floor plans, as well as preparing and distributing the weekly event batch to the operations team. In addition, the role includes actively selling meeting space and food and beverage services to maximize operational efficiency and revenue opportunities.
Scope:
The successful candidate for this integral, customer focused, revenue generating position will share our values and dedication to customer service and exceeding expectations. Working closely with our Food and Beverage team, the Catering Sales Manager will be responsible for managing, coordinating and executing group assignments turned over by our Sales team or short term leads initiated in the Catering office. Under the direction of the Director of Sales and Marketing, this key position will work closely with the Banquet Manager and Executive Chef to ensure accurate execution of functions.
- Liases with clients in a professional and personable manner to assist them in the planning of their meeting or event – providing assistance and support in determining food and beverage needs, AV needs, set – up, and all other details.
- Works closely with AV company, communicating needs in a timely and efficient manner.
- Personally meets clients and on occasion, convenes pre-cons to involve other departments/ banquets prior to function to ensure high standard of service delivery.
- Conducts hotel tours and services clients within the company and property policies when required.
- Works closely with sales ensuring commitments are realistic and delivered upon
- Ensures that all catering contracts finalized by the Sales and Catering Department are communicated to the appropriate hotel departments within established timelines. Works closely with the Front Desk, Reservations, Banquets, and Kitchen teams to ensure all requirements and expectations of booking clients are fully met.
- Exceed clients expectations in terms of service recovery at all times.
- Responds quickly to guest requests in a friendly manner. Response to all calls and inquiries must be fulfilled within 2 hours of inquiry during business hours. All clients are to receive a follow up call within 24 hours post event (or closest business day) to ensure guest satisfaction.
- Provides a professional image at all times through appearance and dress.
Qualifications:
- Three (3) years experience in Catering & Events preferred
- Highly organized and detail oriented
- Proficient use in Word, Excel, Outlook required
- Experience with Event Temple, MEWS considered an asset
- Excellent client relations and communication skills
- Attention to detail; able to thrive in fast-paced environment
- Professional team player with positive manner
- Fluent in English required, French is considered an asset
- Must be flexible to the needs of the client with regard to own schedule.
