Used Equipment Administrator Jobs in Austin, TX at Precision Camera and Video

You must do the Skill Assessments tests if you want to be considered.

Precision Camera & Video is Texas’ premier camera, photography and video store. We are staffed by true experts with real-world photography and video experience. We’re an authorized dealer for all major imaging brands.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, systems-minded professional to own and operate our Used Equipment Intake program across all three store locations. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our pre-owned gear business — responsible for ensuring that every camera body, lens, and accessory acquired by the company is accurately received, assessed, documented, and routed through the appropriate channels. The position will include health benefits, 401K and other industry benefits.

A qualified candidate will have a strong work ethic and good attitude even in
a chaotic environment. The Used Equipment Administrator serves as the enforcer of intake policies, the keeper of records, and the operational hub through which pre-owned equipment flows between our Anderson Lane, Southpark Meadows, and The Woodlands locations. This is not a passive or clerical position. It requires proactive ownership, consistent execution, and a genuine intolerance for process shortcuts.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Process all incoming used equipment through the Used Intake System, ensuring complete and accurate entry into Windward and correct reflection across store inventory.
  • Conduct or coordinate physical condition assessments, confirming that all items are appropriately described, graded, and priced prior to sale or transfer.
  • Manage the movement of pre-owned equipment between all three store locations, maintaining clean and current transfer records at every stage.
  • Enforce intake and transfer policies consistently and without exception, escalating discrepancies, missing records, or process violations to management as appropriate.
  • Maintain equipment in proper working order and storage condition during intake and inter-departmental transit.
  • Support buy order workflows, ensuring that accounting receives accurate and timely documentation for all transactions.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a substantive working knowledge of photography equipment and consumer electronics. Expertise at the technician level is not required; however, the ability to identify what one is looking at, evaluate basic condition, recognize missing accessories, and engage knowledgeably with staff and customers regarding gear is essential. Active or former experience as a photographer is considered a meaningful asset.

Above all, this role demands a professional who is methodical, consistent, and disciplined in their approach to process. The volume and variety of items managed in a multi-location used gear environment means that small errors compound rapidly. We are looking for someone who:

  • Executes tasks correctly and completely the first time, without exception or shortcuts.
  • Maintains composure and accuracy when managing a large and dynamic workload across multiple locations.
  • Handles physical equipment carefully and knowledgeably — including inspection of lenses for optical defects, bodies for operational condition and shutter count, and accessories for completeness.
  • Communicates professionally and clearly across departments and store locations.
  • Operates independently and with initiative; does not require close supervision to remain on task.
  • Applies policy with consistency and confidence, and seeks clarification proactively when procedures are ambiguous.
  • Adapts readily to operations software and internal systems; willingness to learn new tools is essential.

Preferred Experience:

  • Prior experience in a camera store, electronics resale, or specialty used goods retail environment.
  • Familiarity with point-of-sale or inventory management systems; experience with Windward System Five is a plus.
  • Demonstrated background in condition assessment, grading, or quality control of physical goods.
  • Comfort working across multiple software platforms and internal databases.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • Hourly wage
  • Health insurance benefits including medical, dental and vision plans
  • Two weeks paid time off
  • Up to 4.5% 401K company matching
  • Free photography classes
  • Discounts on photography gear
