POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Nurse Manager and supporting the Clinical Department, the Unit Support Assistant is responsible for the provision of administrative services to support the efficient operations of nursing units. Duties include reception, correspondence, booking appointments for residents, stocking, filing and other general clerical duties.
The position works Monday to Friday.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:·
Answer incoming calls to unit, direct calls to appropriate personnel, relay messages, and respond to general inquiries;
Update and maintain resident information in a computerized nursing information system (Point Click Care);
Distribute internal correspondence, mail, newspapers and other documents/personal belongings to residents and/or staff;
Check daily appointment books and book appointments for residents, as well as OTN as needed;
Set up charts, other admission checklist tasks as needed, for new residents, maintain resident records on unit;
Arrange transportation, PTAC #’ and escort for external resident appointments;
Prepare requisition forms for resident laboratory tests, therapy, dietary changes, consults, maintenance work, internal transfers (if required);
Maintain forms in filing cabinets;
Perform routine tub audits, and update tub lists as needed;
Maintain roam alert lists as needed;
Maintain nursing inventory and stationary supplies on units, thin charts as needed, filing, etc;
Assist residents in the dining room as needed;
Provide back-up driving relief for resident and client escorts (Client Transport Porter) as needed;
Other clerical duties as requested
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Post-secondary diploma in Medical Office Administration or related discipline preferred;
A minimum of one (1) year administrative experience in a medical or health-care environment;
Proficient in a computerized environment, including use of Microsoft Office applications;
Self-motivated, adaptive to change and ability to set priorities to meet deadlines;
Ability to interact with an interdisciplinary team, staff members and residents in a professional & confidential manner;
Ability to maintain confidentiality and privacy of information.
Energetic, motivated and positive attitude.
Valid driver’s license with clean drivers abstract
Current CPIC with Vulnerable Sector Check
Job Type: Full-time
Salary: $23.79-$28.91 per hour
