Provide capital and infrastructure support to front line corrections and community safety services

Bring your team leadership and project management expertise to this team that delivers capital projects across a diverse portfolio of government institutions and specialized facilities. At the Ministry of the Solicitor General (SOLGEN), Infrastructure Division we directly support Ontario’s correctional services, policing and community safety programs by ensuring facilities are safe, functional and responsive to the need of staff and clients.

About the job

In this role, you will:

  • Provide team leadership, project management direction, and expertise to the team responsible for facilities and asset management.
  • Lead and manage the ministry’s review, decision-making and approval processes for accommodation and facility and asset related project submissions of varying size and complexity.
  • Develop and strengthen partnerships and working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate delivery and support issues resolution.
  • Develop and evaluate tools, processes and best practices for project management and decision-making.
  • Create communication materials such as project updates, dashboards and briefing products related to infrastructure projects.

Note: This position requires occasional travel to ministry program facilities within the geographic area.

  • Provide project management expertise and leadership to achieve the Ministry’s modernization goals.
  • Identify and solve complex problems related to project objectives, scope, status, cost, and design.
  • Plan, manage, and coordinate a variety of projects of different sizes and complexities.
  • Identify and analyze barriers, issues, and risks in project implementation and develop strategies to mitigate them.

Team Leadership Experience

You can:

  • Lead, coordinate, and oversee the decision-making and approval process, and resolve complex program/project issues.
  • Collaborate with a diverse group of stakeholders, from internal teams to external partners, fostering teamwork and driving projects to success.
  • Motivate and mentor a team of technical professionals and support learning and growth development.

Communication, Relationship Management and Negotiation Skills

You can:

  • Create decision notes, briefing materials, technical reports, presentations, correspondence and clearly and succinctly outline processes and reinforce direction.
  • Offer strategic advice, expertise, and recommendations on issues related to planning and delivering projects.
  • Demonstrate political acuity and can build and maintain complex relationships with stakeholders and delivery partners.
  • Lead complex discussions and resolve diverse and competing issues with partners and stakeholders from different jurisdictions.

Technical Knowledge

  • You understand infrastructure and facilities planning, programming, and directives.
  • You have a strong grasp of project management and can learn government financial processes.
  • You can provide strategic oversight to the project team and manage the decision-making and approval process.
