Summer Kennel Attendant (1 pm to 9 pm) Jobs in Carp at Dog World
We are seeking seasonal afternoon/evening Dog Handlers/ Kennel Attendants to join our team! Part-time and full-time positions are available. You will be responsible for the overall care and well-being of the animals at our facility, along with their exercise, training, feeding and general facility cleaning.
Shift is 1 pm to close (around 9 pm) . There is some flexibility in terms of days of the week worked, but preference will be given to candidates that are able to work at least one weekend day per week (ex. Tuesday to Saturday).
Summer staff must be able to work consistently throughout the summer, particularly during August, our busiest month.
All staff members must have a reliable method of transportation as public transit is not available in our area.
Responsibilities:
– Exercising the dogs both mentally and physically, including structured daily walks, group/pack activities, treadmill sessions, basic grooming, obedience, and individual attention.
– Confidently walking dogs on leash using a variety of training tools.
– Supervising dogs using a variety of training tools.
– Feeding and administering oral and topical medications as per owner instructions.
– Maintaining client relations through detailed and friendly check ins/outs.
– Documentation of daily staff notes and client charts.
– Taking daily pictures of the dogs and uploading them to our private staff page.
– Cleaning of the facilities, kennel units and exercise areas.
Qualifications:
– Previous professional experience in animal care
– Passion for animal care and a desire to learn new dog care and training skills
– Ability to confidently supervise dogs of all breeds, temperaments, ages and sizes
– Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
– Ability to perform all job duties to a high standard in a safe and responsible manner
– Strong written and oral communication skills
– Ability to be on one’s feet and walking for several hours in a day
– Ability to lift dogs and items of up to 50 lbs
