Job Summary
CardsHQ is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and results-driven Sports Card Buyer to source, evaluate, negotiate, and purchase trading card inventory that supports our retail stores, ecommerce business, and live breaking operations. This role is responsible for identifying buying opportunities, assessing product value, building relationships within the hobby, and acquiring inventory that meets the company’s quality, pricing, and margin objectives.
The ideal candidate possesses strong sports card market knowledge, excellent negotiation skills, and the ability to make informed purchasing decisions in a fast-paced and rapidly evolving collectibles market. Your expertise in procurement, negotiation, and supply chain management will be essential in maintaining a competitive edge in the collectibles market. Responsibilities
- Source and purchase sports card inventory including raw cards, graded cards, sealed products, collections, and specialty items.
- Evaluate card condition, authenticity, market demand, and resale potential to make informed purchasing decisions.
- Conduct in-store buying transactions with customers, collectors, and hobby enthusiasts.
- Identify and pursue inventory acquisition opportunities through card shows, events, online marketplaces, and private collections.
- Negotiate pricing and purchasing terms to maximize profitability and inventory value.
- Monitor sports card market trends, player performance, product releases, and pricing fluctuations.
- Utilize market data and industry insights to establish fair market values and strategic purchasing opportunities.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with collectors, dealers, breakers, distributors, and key hobby partners.
- Develop a network of recurring sellers and buying channels to support consistent inventory acquisition.
- Ensure purchased inventory meets company quality standards, authenticity requirements, and margin expectations.
- Partner with grading, inventory, merchandising, retail, ecommerce, and live-selling teams to maximize inventory performance and sales opportunities.

Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience buying, selling, trading, or evaluating sports cards and collectibles
- Strong knowledge of sports card products, grading standards, manufacturers, and market trends
- Experience evaluating raw and graded cards preferred
- Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills
- Ability to make sound financial decisions quickly and confidently
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
- Proficiency with online marketplaces, pricing tools, and inventory systems
- Ability to travel to card shows, conventions, and buying events as needed
- High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree preferred
Pay: $1.00 – $2.00 per hour
