Annual salary: $ 131,100.00 – 165,800.00

Position Highlights
The Distribution Operations & Grid Operations Engineering teams are responsible for ensuring the safe, reliable, resilient,

and efficient operation of the electrical system through advanced operational planning, engineering analysis, outage

management, system restoration, and grid modernization initiatives.

The successful candidate will be recognized as the senior technical resource for Distribution Operations Planning, delivering

expert guidance and engineering leadership across real-time operations, outage planning, operational technologies,

reliability enhancement programs, and strategic system modernization initiatives.

What you’ll do

What you bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems preferred) from a recognized and accredited university.

• Registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.), or eligible for immediate registration, with Engineers and Geoscientists British

Columbia (EGBC).

• Thorough understanding of EGBC quality management guidelines, continuing education requirements, and code of ethics.

• Minimum ten (10+) years of progressive engineering experience within the transmission and distribution utility industry.

• Extensive experience in the design, engineering, operation, maintenance, and planning of electrical distribution systems

operating at voltages up to and including 35 kV.

• Demonstrated expertise in distribution operations, outage management, restoration planning, system reliability,

emergency response, operational risk management, and contingency planning.

• Strong experience performing power system studies including load flow, fault analysis, contingency analysis, voltage

regulation, thermal loading, reliability assessments, and DER integration studies.

• Demonstrated experience supporting or administering advanced utility operational technologies including ADMS, SCADA,

EMS, DERMS, CROW, and PowerON.

• Strong knowledge of utility engineering standards, operating procedures, switching practices, and regulatory compliance

requirements.

• Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve complex operational and engineering challenges requiring sound technical

judgment and risk-based decision making.

• Demonstrate the ability to provide technical guidance, mentorship, and subject matter expertise to engineers, and

technical staff.

• Demonstrated commitment to learning, innovation, employee development, and continuous improvement.

• Demonstrated behavior that promotes and upholds a strong safety culture.

• Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, facilitation, relationship management, and stakeholder

engagement skills.

• Strong interpersonal, collaboration, problem solving skills, and conflict resolution.

• Ability to work independently on complex assignments with broad organizational impact.

Technical Skills:

• Proficiency with power system analysis software including CYME and other industry-standard engineering tools.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook, and SharePoint.

• Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Pro, Bluebeam, AutoDesk Design Review, and related technical drawing review software.

• Strong understanding of distribution system modeling, operational analytics, reliability analysis, and grid modernization

technologies.

• This position provides technical leadership across Distribution Operations, Operations Planning, Grid Operations

Engineering, and Reliability functions.

• Participation in emergency operations and major outage response activities may be required.

• Candidates with a strong combination of distribution operations, operational technology, and utility engineering experience

will be highly regarded.

partnerships across the organization, mentoring engineers, and continuously improving the way we operate the power

system.
