Overview
We are seeking a creative, organized, and culturally aware social media & Digital Content Coordinator to support our digital presence across multiple platforms. In this contract role, you will play a key part in developing and executing digital communication strategies that support Indigenous community engagement initiatives on a large, high‑profile assignment.
This position is ideal for someone who works well independently, understands how different digital platforms resonate with diverse Indigenous communities, and is passionate about meaningful, community‑driven storytelling and communication.
Key Responsibilities
Social Media Strategy & Execution
- Plan, schedule, and publish content across social media platforms to support engagement initiatives.
- Manage daily social media operations, including monitoring activity, responding to comments, and tracking engagement trends.
- Tailor messaging and content formats to effectively reach different Indigenous audiences on various platforms.
Content Creation & Management
- Develop high‑quality written, visual, and multimedia content aligned with project goals and cultural guidelines.
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure messaging is accurate, consistent, and culturally appropriate.
- Maintain a content calendar to ensure timely and proactive communication campaigns.
Community Engagement Support
- Support Indigenous community‑based outreach initiatives through digital storytelling and social media amplification.
- Ensure all communications reflect authentic, respectful representation of Indigenous voices, values, and protocols.
Reporting & Analytics
- Track, analyze, and report on social media performance, audience insights, and campaign outcomes.
- Make data-informed recommendations to optimize content, reach, and engagement.
Qualifications
- 2+ years of experience in social media management, digital content creation, or communications.
- Strong understanding of how various platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, etc.) are used within Indigenous communities across Canada.
- Demonstrated experience creating engaging content across multiple formats (copy, graphics, short videos, etc.).
- Excellent writing, editing, and storytelling skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage deadlines, and adapt to shifting priorities.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities or Indigenous‑led initiatives considered a strong asset.
- Knowledge of culturally safe communication practices and protocols is preferred.
