Role Description The Site Supervisor is responsible for overseeing day-to-day construction activities on-site at project locations in Ottawa, ON. This contract role involves coordinating subcontractors and site staff, monitoring work progress, and ensuring that all construction activities meet quality, safety, and schedule requirements. The Site Supervisor will review plans and specifications, manage site documentation, and communicate regularly with project managers, clients, and inspectors. The role includes enforcing health and safety standards, resolving on-site issues, and maintaining a clean, organized worksite. The position is fully on-site and requires consistent presence at the construction site to support efficient and compliant project delivery.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience supervising construction sites in industrial, commercial, or institutional projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, building codes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction drawings, specifications, and contracts.
- Solid organizational, planning, and time-management skills to coordinate multiple trades and activities.
- Effective communication and leadership abilities to guide site teams and collaborate with stakeholders.
- Experience with site reporting, progress tracking, and basic use of construction management software.
- Valid safety certifications (e.g., WHMIS, fall protection, first aid) and commitment to safe work practices.
- Ability to work on-site in Ottawa, ON, including in varying weather conditions and active construction environments.
- Previous experience with institutional construction is an asset.
- Relevant post-secondary education or trade certification in construction, civil engineering, or a related field is preferred.
