Position Summary
The Senior Aerospace Production Worker provides advanced technical expertise in the fabrication and assembly of mission-critical aerospace components. This role goes beyond standard production, involving complex troubleshooting, the mentorship of junior technicians, and a lead role in maintaining rigorous quality and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Advanced Assembly & Fabrication: Execute the most complex assembly sequences and precision fitments that require expert-level manual dexterity and technical judgment.
- Process Oversight: Monitor production workflows to ensure all activities align with AS9100 quality management systems and internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Technical Leadership: Act as a subject matter expert on the floor, providing guidance and training to junior production staff on specialized tools and techniques.
- Continuous Improvement: Identify bottlenecks or recurring defects and collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams to implement corrective actions or lean manufacturing improvements.
- Equipment Calibration & Setup: Lead the setup and calibration of sophisticated production machinery and ensuring all specialized tooling is maintained according to schedule.
- Complex Documentation: Oversee the accuracy of production logs and traceability documentation, ensuring all data is ready for internal or regulatory audits.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in aerospace manufacturing or a high-precision regulated industry (e.g., defense or medical).
- Technical Mastery: Expert ability to interpret complex blueprints, 3D models, and multi-layered engineering specifications.
- Quality Expertise: In-depth understanding of aerospace quality standards and the ability to perform advanced inspections using precision metrology tools.
- Problem Solving: Proven track record of identifying production errors and implementing immediate, effective solutions.
- Education: High school diploma required; Associate’s degree in Manufacturing Technology or specialized Aerospace certification highly preferred.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Ability to perform high-precision work under magnification for extended periods.
- Capable of standing for long shifts and lifting up to 50 lbs as required by specific assembly tasks.
- Comfortable working in a climate-controlled cleanroom or a high-activity shop floor environment.
