Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The Senior Accountant supports the Controller in managing the financial operations of Gay & Robinson, Inc. and its affiliated entities, including Gay & Robinson Tours, LLC and Robinson Family Partners. This role assists in ensuring accurate financial reporting, regulatory compliance, and effective coordination of accounting, budgeting, tax, and payroll functions across a complex, multi-entity organization engaged in agriculture, land development, and tourism.

The Senior Accountant plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of financial operations, supporting process improvements, and delivering timely and accurate financial information to support executive leadership and strategic decision-making.

Duties

Financial Operations & Accounting Support

  • Assist the Controller in overseeing financial management for a multi-entity agricultural, land development, and tourism operation exceeding $XXM+ in annual activity.
  • Support full-cycle accounting operations, including general ledger maintenance, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting across three affiliated entities.
  • Prepare and post journal entries, reconciliations, and supporting schedules to ensure accurate and timely financial close.
  • Ensure timely posting of all payables, payrolls, recoveries, and accruals prior to report generation.

Budgeting, Reporting & Analysis

  • Assist in the preparation, monitoring, and analysis of CAPEX and OPEX budgets.
  • Support scenario planning, variance analysis, and financial modeling to inform executive decision-making and capital efficiency.
  • Prepare internal financial reports and supporting schedules for management review.

Tax, Payroll & Compliance Support

  • Support payroll processing, benefits administration, tax filings, and compliance activities in coordination with HR and external advisors.
  • Assist with preparation and filing of General Excise Tax (GET), sales/use tax, and other required regulatory filings.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, tax regulations, and internal controls.

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Process Improvement

  • Collaborate with administration, maintenance, real estate, electrical, and land operations teams to improve productivity through process automation and standardized workflows.
  • Assist in improving accounting systems, controls, and reporting processes.

Entity-Specific Responsibilities

Gay & Robinson, Inc.

  • Assist the Controller in overseeing and supporting a staff of three accounting employees (Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll Clerks).
  • Prepare journal entries related to depreciation, prepaid insurance, and real property taxes.
  • Manage GET and sales/use tax filings, RFP lease rent calculations, and payroll reversals.
  • Oversee accounts receivable invoicing, including cattle sales, power worksheets, CAPP recoveries, and ISC charge postings.

Gay & Robinson Tours, LLC

  • Manage receivables related to Island Helicopters, including accruals and cash receipts.
  • Oversee payables including landing fees, GET calculations, and monthly ACH payments.
  • Authorize aviation insurance premium payments and landing fee disbursements based on established cash flow thresholds.

Robinson Family Partners

  • Manage monthly receivables and lease rent processing, ensuring real property tax accuracy and timely deposits.
  • Oversee Chairman’s fees, administrative fees, legal and tax payments, and utility expenses.
  • Prepare and issue quarterly partner distributions, including detailed rent and facilitation fee calculations.
  • Manage quarterly General Excise tax filings and payments, maintaining accurate accrual records.
  • Prepare, reconcile, and maintain real property tax backup spreadsheets, ensuring consistency with tax bills and communicating updates to joint owners and tenants.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a multi-entity or diversified operating environment.
  • Strong knowledge of full-cycle accounting, payroll, tax filings, and financial reporting.
  • Experience supporting budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis. Advanced level of Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software; experience with process automation preferred.
  • High attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with internal teams and external partners. Discretion and professionalism in handling confidential and sensitive financial information.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year
