Annual salary: $ 89,900.00 – 113,700.00
Position Highlights
BC Hydro’s Recruitment Team is responsible for developing strategies to attract and hire exceptionally talented people that
share the organization’s values. This includes supporting clients with outstanding service and advice, as well as providing
candidates with enticing and compelling experiences throughout the recruitment process. We’re focused on building a
scalable operation while working closely with leadership to develop creative and innovative solutions that support the
organization’s changing needs. This position demands a balance of creativity and drive, a high level of organization, along
with strong persuasive influence and analytical skills.
What you’ll do
Engineers, Project and Program Managers, Construction and Contract Managers, IT and a wide array of additional niche
skillsets. Duties for this role will include:
- Play an essential role in attracting a strong and diverse pool of talent to BC Hydro
- Provide leading recruitment and selection expertise aligned to deliver business requirements
- Provide full cycle recruiting services including development of sourcing strategies, screening qualified candidates, and
presenting the top candidates to the business for consideration
- Develop candidate pools for reoccurring and high-volume hiring needs, implementing strategies to maintain interested
candidates in the talent pipeline
- Identify and communicate hiring trends and issues for their specific client group and develop strategies to maintain a solid
pipeline of candidates
- Develop creative tactics to source and attract for hard to fill, critical Engineering and other technical roles
- Implement staffing strategies to provide a qualified, inclusive and diverse candidate pool that reflects the values of the
organization
- Ensure hiring manager and team preparedness during the interview process and that interviews are conducted efficiently,
professionally and in accordance with collective agreements, when applicable
- Manage the candidate process and act as a candidate advocate – assess candidate experience, evaluate skill level,
manage offer process, conduct reference checks, and make salary recommendations
- Interface to negotiate and exchange information with all levels of leadership
- Provide advice and support in understanding and administering collective agreements
- Follow-up continuously with clients to confirm staffing plans and candidates’ needs are met
- Consistently and positively contribute in a high-paced, changing work environment as well as the ability to prioritize
multiple functions and tasks while managing work time efficiently
- Continue to improve service delivery amongst key stakeholders including candidates, new hires, hiring managers, and
colleagues.
What you bring
- Post-secondary education in a related field (i.e. Human Resource Management) or equivalent education and work
experience may be considered. A CPHR designation would be considered an asset
- A minimum of 4 years of related experience in a full-cycle, in house recruitment role. Candidates must have experience in
different facets of the recruitment process, such as: developing recruitment/sourcing strategies; developing assessment
criteria; shortlisting for hard to fill and/or high volume recruitment; managing the candidate process from job application
through to screening; interviews/assessments; offer negotiations and onboarding; providing advice/support to hiring
managers through the recruitment process.
- Experience working in a high-volume recruitment setting
- Experience developing creative sourcing strategies for hard to fill technical positions
- Experience recruiting for technical positions including Engineers, Project Managers, Technology and other related
positions is an asset
- Experience working as part of a recruitment team in a large corporate environment
- The Recruitment Partner has a strong read on people and is passionate about identifying the best candidate for a role
keeping both technical qualifications and organizational fit in mind
- Strong sense of urgency and understanding of excellent customer service for hiring department/manager and candidates
maintaining communication on status of hiring process
- Experience recruiting in an environment covered by one or more collective agreements is highly desirable
- The ability to manage complex client relationships, provide strong customer consultative skills, and work in a large team
- Proven organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and work well in a complex, multi-stakeholder
environment with competing demands
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an emphasis on tact, diplomacy and persuasive influence
- Experience using e-Recruit or similar Applicant Tracking Systems

What else you should know
- This is a full time temporary (FTT) position for approximately 12 months.
- This is a hybrid position under BC Hydro’s flexible work model with a minimum 2 days per week in our Dunsmuir office.
