- Prepare and submit medical claims accurately using coding systems such as CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group) classifications.
- Review medical records and documentation to ensure proper coding alignment with services provided.
- Utilize EMR (Electronic Medical Records) and EHR (Electronic Health Records) systems to extract necessary information for billing purposes.
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through effective medical collection strategies, including appeals and resubmissions.
- Verify insurance coverage, patient eligibility, and benefits prior to claim submission to minimize denials.
- Maintain detailed records of billing activities, claim status updates, and correspondence with payers.
- Collaborate with medical office staff to ensure compliance with healthcare regulations and billing standards. Experience
- Proven experience in medical billing or revenue cycle management within a healthcare setting.
- Strong knowledge of medical coding principles including CPT coding, ICD-9, ICD-10, and DRG classifications.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards.
- Experience working with EMR/EHR systems for billing and record keeping purposes.
- Ability to interpret insurance policies and manage complex medical collections processes effectively.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills to handle multiple claims simultaneously.
