We are currently looking for a Purchasing Manager at Rebel. You will be performing the following duties:
About the Role
We’re looking for a practical, organized Purchasing Manager to help keep production at Rebel running smoothly. You’ll make sure we have the right parts and materials at the right time, work closely with suppliers, and support teams across the business.
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this role plays a key part in improving how we plan, buy, and manage materials. Success in this position comes from balancing forward thinking with solid execution — making good decisions, following through while striving for more than “good enough” and contributing positively to a team culture built on trust, accountability, and shared goals.
Main Responsibilities
Purchasing & Supplier Management
- Develop and implement purchasing strategies aligned with production, engineering, and business needs.
- Source, evaluate, and manage suppliers for materials, components, and assemblies.
- Oversee the full procurement process from requisition to delivery and invoice resolution.
- Conduct supplier performance reviews and drive improvements in delivery, quality, and responsiveness.
- Negotiate pricing, contracts, and lead times to ensure cost-effectiveness and reliable supply.
- Monitor market trends and risks to adjust sourcing strategies proactively.
- Lead and support a team of purchasers to ensure efficient and consistent procurement operations.
Inventory, Cost, and Performance Management
- Manage inventory levels, safety stock, and reorder points to support production while minimizing carrying costs.
- Identify and deliver cost savings through negotiation, standardization, and value improvements.
- Track and report key purchasing KPIs, including cost savings, delivery performance, and supplier quality.
- Support inventory counts and ensure audit compliance with Warehouse and Finance teams.
- Collaborate with Resource Planning to align material availability with production and customer delivery needs.
ERP / MRP (Infor Visual ERP)
- Use Infor Visual ERP to manage purchase orders, supplier data, pricing, and lead times.
- Review and execute MRP recommendations to align materials with production and demand.
- Maintain accurate PO details, including due dates, quantities, and supplier confirmations.
- Promote data accuracy and best practices to support reliable MRP planning.
- Support development of ERP-based dashboards and reporting tools.
Working with Other Teams
- Work closely with Engineering, Production, Planning, and Drafting to understand material needs and resolve issues.
- Coordinate with the Warehouse/Goods‑In team to quickly sort out discrepancies, shortages, and quality concerns.
- Keep colleagues informed about any supply delays or substitutions.
- Support continuous‑improvement efforts across the supply chain and wider operations.
Leadership & Team Development
- Lead, mentor, and develop purchasing staff to build skills in negotiation, MRP, and supplier management.
- Establish and maintain consistent purchasing processes and compliance with internal controls.
- Promote a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
Requirements
- At least 5 years’ purchasing experience in manufacturing; heavy equipment, fabrication, or hydraulics experience is a plus.
- Confident using ERP/MRP systems; experience with Infor Visual ERP is an advantage.
- Good understanding of fabrication, welding, hydraulics, and custom/engineer‑to‑order manufacturing.
- Proven negotiation, communication and relationship‑building skills.
- Highly‑organized, attentive to detail, and able to manage several priorities at once.
- Comfortable using Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Post-secondary education in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related is helpful; professional qualifications (e.g., SCMP, CSCP, CIPS) are an added bonus.
