Craig McNally Contracting Services Ltd. (CMCS) is a Nova Scotia–based general contractor delivering high-end custom homes, additions, and renovations. Our work is executed by an in-house team of Red Seal carpenters, with a strong focus on planning, communication, and precision.
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Project Planner to lead the planning and organization of residential construction projects from pre-construction through execution.
This is a key role within the company, responsible for ensuring projects are fully scoped, scheduled, and prepared before work begins on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Build and manage project schedules based on scope, sequencing, and site conditions
- Review drawings, specifications, and project details to define scope and identify gaps
- Develop project scopes, material lists, and procurement plans
- Coordinate with suppliers and subcontractors on pricing, availability, and lead times
- Prepare complete pre-construction packages (plans, permits, selections, scopes)
- Ensure all projects are fully planned and ready prior to site start
- Track progress and proactively identify delays, conflicts, and risks
- Assist with estimating, budgeting, and cost tracking
- Maintain accurate and organized project data within Buildertrend
- Work closely with the Operations Manager and field team to support execution
Requirements
- Proven construction experience in Nova Scotia (required)
- Strong understanding of residential construction methods and sequencing
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and details
- Experience with estimating, takeoffs, or project planning
- Comfortable using digital tools (Buildertrend experience is an asset)
- Highly organized with strong time management skills
- Clear, professional communication
- Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail
