Primary Care Alberta (PCA) has an exciting opportunity for a temporary Project Manager to lead the planning and delivery of a primary care conference in partnership with Health Quality Alberta (HQA). This is a unique opportunity to bring together healthcare professionals, system partners to advance collaboration and innovation across Alberta’s primary care landscape. Reporting to executive sponsors from both organizations, the Project Manager, Primary Care Conference will be responsible for the end-to-end planning, coordination, and delivery of a conference. Using your project management expertise, you will provide strategic oversight across all aspects of the event, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives, timelines, budgets, and stakeholder expectations. You will leverage your understanding of conference execution to coordinate program development, logistics, communications, accreditation, and attendee experience. Working in a complex, multi-partner environment, you will build relationships with a conference management contractor, program planning committee members, communications leads, and senior leaders. You will translate strategic direction into actionable plans, manage priorities, and drive results through influence rather than direct authority. Your communication and stakeholder management skills will enable you to engage audiences, provide decision support to leadership, and foster collaboration across teams. The successful candidate is proactive, solutions-focused, and accountable for outcomes. You will identify risks, resolve challenges, and ensure high-quality execution while supporting on-site event delivery and post-conference evaluation. Description:
The Project Manager is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive project plan, including timelines, milestones, risks, dependencies, and mitigation strategies. The Project Manager will review key deliverables, monitor progress, and address operational issues to support successful delivery. The role serves as the central coordination point between the conference management contractor and communications leads, ensuring marketing plans, attendee communications, promotional materials, and conference messaging are developed and delivered in accordance with organizational requirements and brand standards. The Project Manager will also oversee continuing education accreditation processes, coordinating with stakeholders to ensure compliance with accreditation standards and timelines. Following the event, the Project Manager will lead evaluation activities, including stakeholder debriefs, feedback analysis, reporting, and documenting lessons learned to support continuous improvement and future conference planning.

Required Qualifications:
Post-secondary education in project management, business administration, health administration, or a related field. Minimum 5 years managing complex projects, including large-scale events or conferences. Experience coordinating multiple stakeholders and managing external vendors or contractors.
