Job Type: Contract (250 Business Days +potential of 250 days additional extension)

Compensation: $37.00-$43.00 per hour

Stafingo is conducting a confidential search on behalf of a public sector client for an experienced Project Control Officer (Procurement). This role is critical in supporting procurement lifecycle activities, ensuring compliance with established policies, and enabling the successful delivery of high-priority projects.

This position is ideal for professionals who bring a strong foundation in procurement operations, combined with project coordination experience in structured, compliance-driven environments.

Position Overview

The Project Control Officer will work closely with Supply Chain (Procurement) teams and project stakeholders to facilitate procurement processes, maintain documentation integrity, and ensure audit readiness. The successful candidate will play a key role in coordinating procurement activities, managing documentation workflows, and supporting project execution in alignment with organizational standards.

Core Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, project managers, and procurement teams to ensure sourcing documents are accurate, complete, and compliant
  • Support the end-to-end procurement lifecycle, including requisition intake, documentation validation, and purchase order issuance
  • Accurately input and manage procurement data within enterprise systems such as Workday and Flextrack
  • Maintain comprehensive procurement records and ensure a complete and auditable document trail
  • Prepare and draft briefing notes, status updates, and procurement-related documentation for leadership review
  • Coordinate document routing, approvals, and signatures using tools such as DocuSign
  • Monitor procurement activities to ensure adherence to established policies, procedures, and timelines
  • Track deliverables, identify risks or bottlenecks, and escalate issues where necessary
  • Provide ongoing support to project teams to ensure procurement milestones align with project schedules
  • Maintain and manage document repositories (e.g., MS Teams), ensuring version control and document integrity

Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 4 years of hands-on experience supporting procurement activities within structured environments
  • Minimum 2 years of experience using procurement systems/tools such as Workday, Flextrack, Ontario Tender Portal, or similar platforms
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles, processes, and compliance requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outputs within tight timelines
  • Exceptional attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and audit readiness
  • Proven ability to collaborate effectively with both internal and external stakeholders
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel (data tracking/reporting) and MS Teams (document repository management)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to draft professional documentation and briefing materials

Preferred / Asset Qualifications

  • Experience working in the public sector environment
  • Knowledge of procurement frameworks, competitive sourcing methodologies, and compliance standards
  • Familiarity with project management concepts such as scope, risk, scheduling, cost control, and quality assurance
  • Experience supporting multiple project managers and concurrent initiatives in a fast-paced environment

Hands-on experience with:

  • Document workflow and e-signature tools (e.g., DocuSign)
  • Project tracking, reporting, and status updates
  • Risk identification and escalation processes
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to manage expectations and resolve conflicts

Work Environment & Conditions

  • Hybrid work model with onsite requirements based on Hiring Manager discretion (up to 5 days/week if required)
  • Candidates must reside in Ontario, as system access is restricted within the province
  • Agency-issued equipment must remain within Ontario unless otherwise approved
