Production Manager (Custom Manufacturing)
We are looking for a strategic and hands-on Production Manager to lead our manufacturing operations through the entire product lifecycle—from initial technical detailing to final assembly and logistics. In this role, you will be the driving force behind our shop’s efficiency, fostering a high-performance culture while ensuring every project meets rigorous quality and safety standards.
Core Responsibilities
- Operational Strategy & Scheduling: You will develop and manage complex production schedules, balancing resource availability with client deadlines to ensure optimal shop productivity and on-time delivery.
- Team Leadership (LMA): Beyond just supervising, you will lead, manage, and hold the team accountable through regular 1-on-1s, performance coaching, and a commitment to professional development.
- Fabrication & Engineering Mindset: You will collaborate closely with Estimating and Engineering teams to determine the most innovative and efficient ways to build complex designs.
- Safety & Facility Stewardship: You will oversee the health and safety of the shop (including woodshop, CNC, and assembly areas) and manage the preventative maintenance of both high-tech machinery and the physical building.
- Continuous Improvement: You will establish quality benchmarks and identify opportunities to reduce costs, enhance speed, and implement new technologies across the plant.
The Ideal Candidate
- Technical Expertise: A strong background in manufacturing technicalities and an "engineering mindset" to solve fabrication challenges.
- Supply Chain Savvy: Deep understanding of inventory control, procurement, and materials management.
- Safety Advocate: A role model for workplace safety who ensures compliance with all regulations and maintains meticulous records.
- Communicator: Ability to work across departments, providing clear reporting on budgets and production status to senior leadership.
Key Performance Areas
- Safety First: Maintaining a zero-incident culture through consistent training and equipment inspections.
- Productivity: Optimizing the workload of the shop floor to meet fluctuating project demands.
- Facilities Management: Ensuring the building and its assets—from sprinkler systems to CNC machines—are operating at peak performance.
