Job Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Principal to lead a small K–12 school in a rural Southern Alberta community. This school serves approximately 150 students in a multi-grade classroom environment and is committed to student success, literacy development, and culturally grounded education.
The Principal will provide leadership in school operations, instructional excellence, and community engagement, while fostering a safe, inclusive, and collaborative learning environment.
Tasks, Duties and Responsibilities:
School Leadership & Administration
- Provide overall leadership for school operations and programming
- Lead school improvement planning with a strong focus on student achievement
- Oversee budgeting, reporting, and resource allocation
- Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, and education standards
Instructional Leadership
- Support effective teaching practices, assessment, and evaluation
- Promote literacy and numeracy development across all grade levels
- Use data to inform decision-making and improve student outcomes
- Support multi-grade classroom environments
Staff Supervision & Development
- Supervise, mentor, and evaluate school staff
- Foster a collaborative and accountable team environment
- Support professional development and continuous learning
Student & Community Engagement
- Build strong relationships with students, families, and community members
- Promote a safe and respectful school culture
- Support culturally relevant programming and community involvement
Qualifications & Requirements:
· Bachelor of Education (BEd) – required
· Master of Education (MEd) – required
· Valid Alberta Teaching Certificate
· Proven school administration or leadership experience
· Strong data-driven decision-making skills
· Experience with student information systems (e.g., PowerSchool) is an asset
· Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
· Demonstrated ability to lead in a collaborative team environment
Preferred Experience:
· Experience working in First Nations or rural education settings
· Understanding of Indigenous cultural values, traditions, and community dynamics
· Experience supporting multi-grade classrooms
Conditions of Employment:
