Overview
We are seeking a dedicated Poultry Catcher/Vaccinator to join our team . This role involves handling live poultry, ensuring their health through proper vaccination, and maintaining efficient farm operations. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, physical stamina. This position offers an opportunity to work in a fast-paced setting with a focus on animal care and safety.
Responsibilities
- Catching and handling poultry safely and humanely during moves and vaccination procedures
- Administering vaccines accurately to poultry as per established protocols
- Safe Handling of needles
- Assisting with the loading and unloading of poultry into transport vehicles
- Maintaining cleanliness and organization of work areas to ensure biosecurity standards are met
- Monitoring poultry health and reporting any signs of illness or distress
- Travelling to and from farms across Ontario in work vehicle
Experience
- Prior experience with farm machinery or livestock handling is preferred but not required; training will be provided
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely, often lifting loads up to 50 pounds or more
- Experience working in agricultural or outdoor environments is a plus
- Strong physical stamina and ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Willingness to learn about poultry health management and vaccination techniques
Pay
- wages are based on piece work rates per bird or kg depending on job type
