Job DescriptionAppleTwo Employment Services is looking for a Pharmacist to join our client’s team! You will be responsible for dispensing drugs prescribed by physicians and other health practitioners. As the pharmacist, you will compound and dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals and provide consultative services to both clients and health care providers. Responsibilities:
Compound and dispense prescribed medications
Advise physicians and health practitioners on the interactions and side effects of medications
Provide patients with pertinent drug information
Proactively review prescriptions for proper dosage
Supervise and maintain records of all medications
Job Duties:
Below are some of the main activities and tasks that you will perform:
Check prescriptions for proper dosage
Compound prescribed pharmaceutical products by calculating, measuring and mixing the quantities of drugs and other ingredients required and filling appropriate containers with correct quantity
Dispense prescribed pharmaceuticals to customers or to other health care professionals and advise them on indications, contra-indications, adverse effects, drug interactions and dosage
Maintain medication profiles of customers including registry of poisons and narcotic and controlled drugs
Ensure proper preparation, packaging, distribution and storage of vaccines, serums, biologicals and other drugs and pharmaceuticals
Order and maintain stock of pharmaceutical supplies
Advise customers on selection and use of non-prescription medication
Renew existing prescriptions in limited circumstances
May adapt the formulation, regimen, duration or route of administration of medication
May be required to supervise and coordinate the activities of other pharmacists, pharmacy assistants, pharmacy technicians and other staff.
Develop information materials concerning the uses, properties and risks of particular drugs
Evaluate labeling, packaging and advertising of drug products
Promote pharmaceutical products to health professionals.
Qualifications:
Certification by the Ontario College of Pharmacists (OCP) and in good standing
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Commitment to ongoing medical education.
Ability to manage a diverse range of health issues in patients of all age groups.
High on discipline, punctuality, courtesy, ethics, have a strong moral compass and you are compassionate.
Previous experience in pharmacy or other medical fields
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong attention to detail
Strong organizational skills
