The Opportunity

The Physical Facilities team at Banff Centre is key to keeping our campus and facilities looking their best and operating smoothly. We’re looking for an experienced painter to assist with requests for patching, finishing, and maintaining all surfaces including wood, plaster, drywall, concrete, brick, etc.

Specific Accountabilities
Painting and staining buildings, as well as mixing colors, taping, sanding, finishing drywall material and finishing/refinishing new or old wood furniture
Applying coatings by brush, roller and spray to surfaces of wood, metal, brick, concrete, plaster, stucco and stone for decorative and protective purposes. Work will be maintaining both interior and exterior surfaces.
Applying wall coverings to surfaces.
Setting up scaffolding.
Performing surface preparation on new and existing surfaces.
Be competent and proficient in the safe use of hand tools, power equipment and precision-built machinery.
Perform assigned tasks in accordance with safety, quality, environmental and production standards required by industry.
Ensures that proper health and safety documents are obtained for all hazardous goods purchased.
Qualification and Educational Requirements
Must have a minimum of three years’ painting experience.
Able to lift up to 50 pounds and to work on ladders, scaffolds, etc.
Must be comfortable working from heights and have strong manual dexterity
Excellent customer service and communication skills
Demonstrated track record of effective problem solving
Able to work independently, with minimal supervision
Strong team player
Valid Alberta Driver’s License.
Special Requirements
Due to the nature of the job, this position requires the candidate to be available to work a flexible, irregular schedule and weekends.
Employment Terms & Benefits
In accordance with CUPE 4318, this is a unionized, permanent, salaried support staff position, subject to a 6-month probationary period.
This position has an annual salary between $36,289 and $38,103 per year depending on experience. This position works 37.5 hours per week.
