About The Position
This is a Regular Part-Time (RPT) position within the part-time support staff Bargaining Unit reporting to the Associate Director, Student Services & Access Programs, working 24 hours per week at an hourly rate of $30.50
The Outreach Program Facilitator is responsible for overseeing the implementation of the Outreach Branch within Student Success and Lion's Mind. As an experienced advocate for equity-deserving groups, the Facilitator designs and delivers programming that raises awareness of post-secondary opportunities while improving access, transition, and retention strategies for underrepresented populations.
Specific Accountabilities
- Knowledge of equity frameworks and a deep understanding of anti-oppression, anti-racism, and decolonization frameworks
- Familiarity with AODA and OSAP and assisting students in navigating systemic hurdles
- Foster community and outreach experience and engagement with groups that historically do not participate in higher education, such as First-Generation, Indigenous, students with disabilities, and Low-Income Students
- Experience working with or belonging to the target demographic, including racialized youth, students with disabilities, or Crown wards
- Ability to build relationships and partnerships with community agencies, school boards, and local Pathways to Education branches
- Skilled in creating culturally relevant workshops and outreach materials that demystify the college and university experience
- Support students to understand the "hidden curriculum" of postsecondary applications and campus life
- Ability to track student progress and provide early intervention to improve retention
- Familiar with data collection and outcome measurement requirements for the Ministry of Colleges and Universities funding accountability
- Experience with trauma-informed care and supporting students who may face significant external life stressors or systemic barriers.
- Develop peer-mentoring programs that connect incoming students with senior students from similar backgrounds
- Coordinate with campus services, such as Financial Aid, Accessibility, CICE, Indigenous Centres, Student Success Navigators, and Lion's Mind to ensure a "warm hand-off" for students in need
Qualifications
- 3 years of post-secondary education (advanced diploma/degree) in Human Services, Child and Youth Care, Social Service Worker, Business, or Education
- Must have current Level C First Aid & CPR certification
- CPI/NVCI/PMAB training or equivalent
- Up to 3 years of experience supporting individuals from equity-deserving populations
