Operations Analyst
Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. We are focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
We are currently looking for an Operations Analyst to join our team in the Calgary office. This is a 12 month contract role.
Reporting to the Senior Operations Analyst, the Operations Analyst will provide analytical support to both field operations and accounting teams. This role plays a key part in forecasting, budgeting, cost analysis and maintaining the integrity of operational and financial data used to support business decisions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Investigate, analyze and resolve data discrepancies and anomalies.
- Act as a liaison with field operations and accounting teams.
- Prepare monthly operating cost accruals.
- Maintain and manage forecast system inputs, including power, third party fees, administrative fees and taxes.
- Monthly review of forecasts versus actuals expenditures and provide feedback to operational stakeholders.
- Perform monthly variance analysis on accruals versus actual results.
- Ownership of data quality checks for identified reoccurring issues.
- Support monthly forecasting and annual budgeting.
Qualifications and Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably in operations, production accounting or financial analysis.
- Post secondary education in Business, Accounting, Economics, Engineering or a related discipline.
- Exposure to both operation and financial functions is considered an asset.
Skills and Attributes

- Positive attitude with a continuous improvement mindset and a willingness to learn.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Power BI, including data analysis and reporting.
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) is considered an asset.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
