Job Description

Medical Office Assistant for the Radius Community Health and Healing’s Respite to Recovery (R2R) program (in collaboration with a partnering shelter), which serves individuals experiencing homelessness who are ill, but medically stable enough to temporarily convalesce in a shelter/transitional housing setting with medical supports.

Key Responsibilities

General reception duties include greeting clients, answering phones, and checking messages.

Ensures maintenance of schedule by checking in each client

Keeping client demographics up to date

General clerical duties include keeping inventory of and ordering office supplies, preparing invoices, scanning and mailing documents.

Assists the Charge Nurse/Supervisor with data collection and compiling statistics.

Schedule, confirm and coordinate appointments including notification of clients and arranging transportation to same

Stock up and set up treatment rooms as required.

Working as part of an interdisciplinary team

Assisting nursing staff with various duties as requested/required (e.g., client laundry, cleaning rooms, etc.)

Work co-operatively with partnering shelter’s staff and management while following the partnering shelter’s guidelines and policies.

Qualifications

Completion of a recognized Medical Office Assistant certificate program

Experience working with marginalized populations.

Clear criminal record and vulnerable sector check

Current CPR certification

Strong computer proficiency
