Overview:
The Millwright is a crucial role within the refinery, accountable for and executing maintenance activities to ensure the operational efficiency and reliability of equipment and systems. This position involves both preventative and corrective maintenance tasks, aimed at minimizing equipment downtime and maximizing overall reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct routine preventative maintenance and corrective repairs on a variety of equipment, including pumps, compressors, cooling towers, centrifuges, and associated systems.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, implementing effective solutions to resolve equipment malfunctions and prevent recurrence.
- Perform predictive/ preventative maintenance on rotating equipment such as vibration monitoring and pump efficiency.
- Perform preventative maintenance and troubleshoot issues on reciprocating compressors, ensuring efficient operation and minimal downtime.
Equipment and Tools Management:
- Utilize hand and power tools, including specialized industrial equipment like drill presses, torches, pump alignment tools, pipe threaders, hydraulic presses, torque machines, bearing pullers, and hoists.
- Conduct routine inspections and calibrations of tools and equipment to maintain accuracy and functionality.
Safety and Compliance:
- Adhere to all OSHA regulations and site-specific safety protocols to maintain a safe working environment.
- Wear appropriate PPE for all assigned tasks as determined by the hazard assessment, including but not limited to safety glasses, gloves, hard hats, safety shoes, fall protection and respiratory protection when required.
- Ensure all maintenance activities comply with regulatory standards and best practices, conducting work in a manner that minimizes risk and promotes safety.
Record Keeping and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, including repairs, inspections, and parts used.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in a refinery or a related industrial environment, with a strong background in maintenance and repair of mechanical systems.
- Competence in performing preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repairing rotating equipment such as pumps, cooling towers, air coolers, and centrifuges.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift heavy objects, perform manual tasks, and work in confined spaces.
- Physical stamina and strength to handle the demands of the role, including working in various environmental conditions.
