Metal Chop Saw Operator (General Labourer) Jobs in Thunder Bay at Dutchak Scrap Metal
Dutchak Scrap Metal is currently seeking a candidate to fill the role of Chop Saw / Gas Saw operator at our Thunder Bay location.
The successful candidate will be responsible for processing, cutting and sorting scrap metal in our Thunder Bay yard, primarily via use of a cut off saw / chop saw. Use of other air & power tools may also be required (grinders, sawzalls, impact guns, etc)
Please note – this is an OUTDOOR position. While there may be work in our warehouse from time to time, the bulk of the work will be performed outdoors, so candidate should be comfortable working in an outdoor environment!
Please also note – this position is considered physically demanding! Using the saw on a regular basis, and working outdoors in the elements, requires strength and stamina.
Experience working in a related industry and / or labour environment is preferred. More specifically, experience working outdoors in a manufacturing setting – alongside processing machinery and/or heavy machinery – is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Learn about various types of ferrous and non-ferrous metals
- Learn & practice proper sorting, processing, and packaging of metals
- Follow general safety practices
- Communicate with customers & staff in a professional manner
Qualifications
- Previous labour experience a definite asset
- Must be able to get to and from the Thunder Bay yard site daily
- Willingness to work in an outdoor environment (rain or shine, hot or cold)
- Strong communication skills
- Able to carry out instructions provided in written, oral format
- Punctual, responsible & respectful attitude absolutely required!
