Job Summary

Solico Metal Inc. is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Logistics Supervisor to lead our daily distribution operations. Unlike standard logistics roles involving palletized or uniform packaging, our environment deals with diverse industrial metal products that require specialized handling and securing. You will oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of shipments, manage various carrier types tailored to specific loads, and ensure peak efficiency across all shipping and receiving activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational Oversight: Supervise daily logistics workflows, including inbound receiving and outbound shipping of diverse industrial materials.
  • Diverse Fleet Coordination: Manage and coordinate with a wide range of transportation equipment (Flatbeds, Step-decks, Dry Vans, etc.) based on the specific requirements of the load.
  • Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict loading/unloading procedures to guarantee personnel safety and cargo integrity; ensure 100% adherence to Alberta OHS regulations and cargo securement standards.
  • Team Leadership: Lead, schedule, and mentor logistics staff, fostering a culture of accountability and safety.
  • Inventory Integrity: Audit inventory movement and maintain meticulous digital records within the ERP system.
  • Process Optimization: Identify operational bottlenecks and implement solutions to enhance workflow efficiency in a non-standardized environment.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years in logistics, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory role. Experience in industrial/metal manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Specialized Knowledge: Deep understanding of freight configurations and the logistics of non-packaged/heavy industrial goods.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in ERP/inventory systems and Microsoft Office. Current Forklift Certification is mandatory.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong command of load-securing regulations, Bill of Lading (BOL) documentation, and transport laws.
  • Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work effectively in a noisy industrial/welding shop environment.
  • Education: High school diploma required; post-secondary education in Supply Chain/Logistics is an asset.

Working Conditions

  • Active warehouse and shipping/receiving environment within an industrial facility.
  • Frequent exposure to industrial noise (welding/manufacturing).
  • Schedule: Full-time, permanent. Flexibility for overtime may be required during peak seasonal periods.
