north central Alberta. PHSD also provides education to over 10,000 students

The Position

In the capacity of a Wellness Coach,

the successful candidate must be a self-directed team player interested in

providing supportive counselling to students. The successful candidate must be

willing to work in a collaborative environment. Hours of work will be 5 days/week, Monday to Friday at 7.5 hours/day following the school calendar. Duties to commence August 27, 2026 and will end June 25, 2027.

Working with school teams within

a Consultative And Collaborative Model Duties May Include

  • Offer co-regulation support to students aligned with their Safety and Regulation Support Plans
  • Provide comprehensive risk assessment, develop safety plans and ensure follow-up care for students that

experience suicidal ideations and other self-harming behaviors

  • Working as part of a multidisciplinary team to help meet the educational, social, emotional and

communication needs of students

  • Referral and navigation of community resources and advocacy for student needs
  • Providing mental wellness and school-wide programming presentations to students
  • Advocate for students’ needs with teachers, administrators, parents and other professionals
  • Provide support to staff and students to support the effects of critical incidents, and participate as required in student threat assessment

and management

Qualifications

  • Education and experience in Psychology, Education, or related fields
  • Formal training and/or experience in counselling and trauma-sensitive practices
  • Awareness of ethical foundations in counselling and experience establishing and maintaining ethical

boundaries and confidentiality in rural communities

  • Ability to develop relationships with students built on rapport and mutual respect
  • Ability to work independently and also collaboratively within a team environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with students and adults
  • Enthusiastic and motivated to help students succeed
  • Access to reliable transportation
