Job Title: Lead Irrigation Technician (LIT)
Reports to: VP of Maintenance (VPM)

SUMMARY: The Lead Irrigation Technician with limited supervision assists in the management of irrigation systems for contracted properties and collaborates with the VPM on strategies for effective water management programs. Daily management of assigned Irrigation Technicians, through proactive leadership and commitment to quality and customer service, while balancing the need to maximize profits and minimize costs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Direct and perform irrigation duties; programming controllers, trouble-shooting irrigation issues, irrigation checks, etc.
- Troubleshoot and repair problems on conventional and 2-wire irrigation systems.
- Complete weekly system checks and direct or perform repairs to ensure irrigation system is operating efficiently.
- Program automatic controller systems to maintain water efficiency of irrigation and sprinkler systems.
- Analyze and evaluate evapotranspiration (ET) rates and weather data for the use of smart (ET) controllers.
- Organizes work orders, equipment, and supplies necessary to complete work assignments.
- Notifies VPM of labor, material, and equipment needs to complete work orders.
- Learns to read and review plan designs and specifications.
- Completes daily paperwork and submit to the VPM in a neat and timely manner, including timecards, invoices, and workorders.
- Communicates daily with VPM about work status and needs.
- Participate in all necessary company meetings, including weekly irrigation meetings.
- Assist and participate in any on the job training, or other training that is organized by ELCI or vendors.
- Collaborates with the VPM regarding hiring, employee discussions and employee termination.
- Collaborates with the VPM on annual reviews for the Irrigation Technicians.
- Snow removal work as assigned.
- Other duties as appropriate and assigned by the VPM.
SAFETY:
- Collaborates with the VPM to ensure compliance to OSHA and Environmental Landworks Company, Inc.’s safety regulations.
- Ensure that all assigned vehicles and equipment are operated in a safe and proper manner and submit necessary repairs to the VPM as needed.
- Maintain a high level of good housekeeping and care of company assets: equipment, vehicles, shop, field offices, and customer work sites.
- Follow all State, Local, and Federal Motor carrier laws in compliance with hauling and transporting equipment, and materials.
- Participate in weekly safety talks.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
- Basic reading, writing, and arithmetic skills required.
- Knowledge of irrigation systems, water conservation techniques and practices.
- Knowledge of computers, hardware, and software to program irrigation controllers.
- Comprehensive knowledge of a wide range of landscape maintenance and irrigation processes.
- Knowledge of ELCI and OSHA safety regulations.
- Effective organizational skills to maintain efficiency and accuracy in all reporting.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize assigned tasks in a high volume, fast paced environment.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Able to work more than 40 hours in any given work week and/or hours that are inconsistent with a 9-5 position.
- The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those encountered within an office and on job sites.
- Significant local travel required; valid state driver’s license required with an appropriate driving record, as determined by the Company’s sole discretion.
- Visibility requires maintaining a professional appearance and providing a positive company image to the public.
