EPCOR Water Services (EWS) is hiring up to two (2) Full-time Temporary, Labourer 2, positions, for up to 8 months to join the Wastewater Collection team working out of the Aurum site, Edmonton, AB.
The Labourer 2 is accountable for grounds and housekeeping maintenance of Flow Control lift stations. This includes ensuring achieving route maintenance with time spans (longest target completion time) of up to one month. All work will be performed in accordance with federal and provincial legislation, applicable bylaws, department and safety standards. The Labourer 2 must have an outstanding attitude to work place safety and provide top customer service to promote the EPCOR brand.
What you’d be responsible for
Perform maintenance within Flow Control Facilities, including:
Ensuring housekeeping of vehicles and lift stations
Assisting colleagues to resolve problems
Working under the direction of the Foreman 1 to set up equipment and ensure worksite is cleaned up after the job has been completed·
Responsible to keeping the Foreman 1 and/or 3 informed of task progress and work performance, and making recommendations for improvement to the work
Performing moderate manual work, not requiring previous training and experience including manual cleaning and maintenance of infrastructure ·
Demonstrate the safe and appropriate use and maintenance of tools and equipment required to perform duties as assigned
Completing daily timesheets, daily safe work plans, accurately providing information (which may include photos) to enable the Foreman to accurate entry of work requests, and completing daily operator log books, including pre-trip vehicle inspections as required, ensuring deficiencies are noted and reported
Driving vehicles as assigned
Providing assistance to other areas of EPCOR that fall within the prescribed duties of a Labourer 2, as needed.
Mow and trim grass, trim bushes, and perform other landscaping duties, as required, using gas-powered mowers, trimmers, and blowers.
Perform snow removal with the use of a plow truck and/or shovel; application of traction aid with the use of a sanding truck and/or ice melt.
Perform light duty cleaning, including refuse collection, bathroom cleaning, sweeping of floors and/or walkways, and other cleaning tasks as assigned.
Provide a high level of customer service to promote EPCOR brand.
Perform day-to-day operational duties standard in water and wastewater utility, as well as a variety of other related duties as required.
Foster a good work safety attitude and zero injury culture with employees through use of Safe Work Planning, worksite inspections, and appropriate and timely tailgate discussions.
Demonstrate a high performance, high discipline, and safe, accountable, focused, innovative and achievement-oriented, easy to do business with manner of working.
What’s required to be successful
Grade 12 diploma (GED or equivalent level of secondary education).
Minimum of 1-year related labour experience.
Alberta Environment Wastewater Collection Certification – Level 1 is an asset.
Previous experience in Wastewater Collection System Maintenance is preferred.
For candidates that do not have certification you will be supported and encouraged to achieve level 1 within 24 months of being permanent.
