Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and dynamic hands-on Head Chef to lead our culinary team in delivering exceptional dining experiences. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, management experience, and a passion for food preparation and service.

In this role, you will oversee all kitchen operations, ensure food safety standards are maintained, and inspire creativity within the culinary team to uphold a strong reputation for excellence. This hands-on position will be working to ensuring top-notch health and safety standards, and training all kitchen staff. You will bridge the gap between customer needs and business goals.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and manage kitchen staff, fostering a collaborative and efficient work environment.
  • Oversee food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure high-quality dishes that meet our standards.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and proper handling procedures to maintain a safe kitchen environment.
  • Manage food costs, inventory levels, and inventory purchasing/vendor relationships to meet budget goals.
  • Train new staff members on kitchen procedures, food handling, and safety protocols.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the kitchen area in accordance with health codes.
  • Hiring, training, mentoring, and performance management of kitchen staff.
  • Seeking ways to improve kitchen processes and ensure prompt service.
  • Build weekly schedules aligned with labour budgets.
  • Set standards for kitchen cleanliness and ensuring cleaning is done regularly.
  • Tracking kitchen waste and looking for improvements for financial return.
  • Manage food costs, inventory levels, and inventory purchasing/vendor relationships to meet budget goals.
  • Perform/direct day-to-day kitchen activities, including food preparation, cooking, and plating as needed, ensuring consistency and quality.

Qualifications:

  • Strong leadership, communication, and conflict resolution skills, with the ability to manage a diverse team effectively.
  • Ability to deal with high pressure environments & good decision-making skills.
  • Demonstrate a professional attitude, foster a fun and collaborative environment.
  • Food Safe Certificate.
  • WHIMS.
  • Excellent understanding of food safety regulations and proper handling techniques.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.

Experience:

  • Proven supervising experience and relevant certification.
  • Knowledge of restaurant management practices and food industry standards.
  • Experience working in a ventless kitchen.

Pay: $60,000.00-$70,000.00 per year
