Job Overview
Join the OCTI manufacturing team as an Industrial Sewing Machine Operator and play a key role in producing our high-quality thermal insulated acoustic products. In this position, you will operate industrial sewing machines to assemble and finish components with precision and efficiency, working with specialty materials including thin sheet metal and metal mesh. Your craftsmanship will help ensure every product meets our quality standards in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment where your skills are valued and your contributions truly matter.
Responsibilities
- Operate industrial sewing machines and related equipment to assemble OCTI thermal insulated acoustic products according to specifications.
- Interpret product drawings, work instructions, and sewing specs to sew multiple material types, including thin sheet metal and metal mesh.
- Perform machine setup, make adjustments using hand tools, and complete daily preventative maintenance.
- Thread guides and needles, and complete bobbin changes as needed.
- Inspect product and materials for quality, communicating any concerns to management promptly.
- Apply best practices to maintain quality while reducing labor and material costs.
- Maintain a clean, organized workspace in line with 5S standards.
- Collaborate with team members and assist in other Operations areas (Pre-Assembly and Final Assembly) when needed to meet daily production goals.
Requirements
- Minimum 1+ year of industrial sewing experience required.
- Proficiency with industrial sewing machines used in production environments.
- Strong understanding of sewing techniques, fabric handling, and component assembly.
- Ability to read English and interpret work orders, production drawings, and technical instructions.
- Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced setting.
- Strong organization, follow-through, and team-player attitude.
- Basic PC skills preferred.
- Previous manufacturing or warehouse experience is a plus.
Physical Requirements
- Light manufacturing/warehouse environment — frequent walking, standing, bending, reaching, and stooping.
- Constant sitting while sewing; occasional bending, stooping, reaching, and standing.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. occasionally.
- Physical stamina to maintain adequate productivity rates.

Pay: $17.50 – $18.00 per hour
