Position Summary
The Housekeeper (Environmental Services Aide) maintains a clean, safe, and sanitary environment for residents, staff, and visitors. The role follows infection control standards and facility policies to support resident health.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Cleaning Duties
- Clean and sanitize resident rooms, bathrooms, common areas, hallways, dining rooms, and offices.
- Dust furniture, polish fixtures, clean windows/mirrors, and disinfect bathrooms.
- Sweep, mop, vacuum, strip, wax, and buff floors.
- Empty and sanitize trash containers; make beds and change linens as assigned.
- Perform terminal (deep) cleaning of rooms after discharges.
Infection Control & Safety
- Follow universal precautions and use PPE properly.
- Handle cleaning chemicals safely and dispose of waste correctly.
- Report hazards, maintenance issues, or isolation room needs immediately.
Operations & Supplies
- Maintain and restock housekeeping carts and closets.
- Prepare rooms for new admissions.
- Assist with light moving of furniture/equipment as needed.
Resident Focus
- Respect resident privacy, dignity, and property.
- Coordinate with nursing staff to minimize disruptions.
Qualifications
- No experience required; on-the-job training provided (healthcare experience preferred).
- Able to read, write, and follow instructions in English.
- Physical ability to stand/walk for long periods, lift up to 50 lbs, bend, stoop, and push carts.
- Reliable, detail-oriented, and comfortable working with geriatric residents.
- Working Conditions
- Includes weekends, holidays, and possible split shifts.
