Job Description
Ancora Light Respite Inc. is seeking reliable, flexible, and committed Respite Support Workers to provide in-home and community-based support, including 1:1 childcare support, for children, youth, and families during high-demand seasons.
This on-call contract position runs from June 1, 2026 (training start) to December 31, 2026, and is ideal for individuals looking for supplemental income while making a meaningful impact in their community.
This role requires strong availability, particularly during high-season periods such as summer months, school breaks, and community respite programs.
Position Overview
Respite Support Workers provide temporary relief and individualized support to families/educators by assisting children and youth in:
- In-home support (high demand during peak season)
- Community-based settings
- Community respite programs and camps
- Child-specific 1:1 support
- Classroom or group-based environments (where applicable)
Shifts are scheduled based on client needs and program demand. All assigned shifts must be completed as scheduled.
Responsibilities
- Provide safe, respectful, and child-centered care
- Follow support plans, routines, and safety guidelines
- Support participation in community activities and programs
- Provide 1:1 childcare support tailored to individual needs
- Communicate professionally with families, community partners, and Ancora Light Respite Inc.
- Attend and complete all confirmed coverage shifts
- Maintain professionalism, reliability, and punctuality
Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience supporting children and/or youth in community, classroom, camp, or care-based settings
- Strong behaviour management skills
- Early Childhood Education (ECE), Child and Youth Care (CYC), or related field
- Reliable, dependable, and organized
- Ability to work independently and follow direction
- Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain)
- CPR / First Aid (or willingness to obtain)
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
**Paid as an independent subcontractor**
