Head Lifeguard Jobs in Garnerville, NY at North Rockland Central School District
The North Rockland (Haverstraw-Stony Point) Central School District is seeking candidates for an anticipated Head Lifeguard position. This is a full-time 10-month position working. This position includes a regionally competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package. All candidates must meet the Rockland County Civil Service requirements.
Head Lifeguard Responsibilites
- Participate in monitoring activities in swim areas and immediate surroundings to prevent accidents;
- Direct the enforcement of safety rules and regulations;
- Administer emergency first aid;
- Maintain order in swim areas;
- Inspect facilities and equipment for cleanliness and operating efficiency;
- Direct maintenance and cleaning activities;
- Maintain records and prepare activity reports;
- May participate in and/or supervise the cleaning and refilling of the swimming pool;
- May conduct an instructional program in all areas of a swimming curriculum;
- May administer cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in life threatening situations;
- May conduct or officiate a swim meet.
Head Lifeguard Required Skills
Thorough knowledge of water safety rules and regulations; thorough knowledge of water rescue techniques; good knowledge of emergency first aid and CPR procedures and techniques; ability to supervise the work of others; excellent swimming ability; ability to communicate effectively.
Head Lifeguard Minimum Requirements
1. Must be at least 18 years of age with two (2) seasons of adequate lifeguarding experience; and
2. Possession of a current certification in American Red Cross (ARC) Basic Life Support for the Professional Rescuer CPR or equivalent certification as determined by the New York State Department of Health; and
3. Possession of a current lifeguard certification from the American Red Cross or other recognized certifying agency acceptable to the New York State Department of Health.
