Job Description
Zome Design is looking for a talented and detail-oriented Graphic Designer / Production Artist to join our creative team. This position is ideal for someone who has strong design skills, understands production requirements, and can prepare artwork accurately for screen printing, embroidery, digital printing, and promotional products.
At Zome Design, we create custom apparel and branded merchandise for schools, businesses, events, and major organizations. We are looking for someone who can combine creativity with technical accuracy and help move artwork efficiently from concept to production.
This is not just a design position. The right candidate will understand that great artwork also needs to be clean, organized, print-ready, and built correctly for the production method being used.
Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
Prepare customer artwork for screen printing, embroidery, digital printing, and promotional products.
Create clean vector artwork, layouts, mockups, and production-ready files.
Set up color separations for screen printing.
Prepare artwork for embroidery digitizing and production.
Review customer-supplied files for quality, accuracy, resolution, and printability.
Make artwork adjustments based on customer requests and production needs.
Create digital proofs for customer approval.
Communicate clearly with sales, production, and management regarding artwork questions or concerns.
Maintain organized files, naming conventions, and job notes.
Help ensure artwork is accurate before it reaches production.
Work with deadlines in a fast-paced production environment.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have:
Strong experience with Adobe Illustrator and Adobe Photoshop.
A solid understanding of vector artwork, typography, color, layout, and file preparation.
Experience preparing artwork for screen printing, embroidery, or other production methods is preferred.
Ability to follow job instructions carefully and catch small details.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn Zome Design’s production standards.
Good organization skills and the ability to manage multiple jobs at once.
Preferred Experience
Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:
Screen printing artwork setup
Color separations
Embroidery artwork preparation
DTF, digital printing, or print/cut production
Promotional product artwork
Customer proofing
Adobe Acrobat
Production art in an apparel decoration environment
