INTUS Construction is a professional construction service provider for both the private and public sector. INTUS Construction specializes in the installation of utilities, telecommunications, and infrastructure assets. Throughout years of servicing these industries, INTUS has provided inventive solutions and technologies to improve the efficiency and cost management of all types of installations. We are currently seeking motivated individuals who are already trained and experienced as Hydrovac Operators/Technicians. Prior experience necessary.
Reports to:Field Supervisor
Summary of the job position:Working under the supervision of the field manager, he/she will be responsible for all phases of any projects by planning, execution, and management to meet or exceed client expectations.
Responsibilities
Assisting Foreman
· Seeking a candidate with the ability to trench, place duct, pull cable, and direct bury main-line and drops.
Read and interpret plans or diagrams and perform required work, Locate & verify all utilities before construction
· Work under customers’ standards for Fibre Optic installation
Transport cargo and/or equipment in a safe manner
Oversee condition of vehicle and inspect tires, lights, brakes, and other equipment, and monitor vehicle performance and mechanical fitness
Must be hands on, operate power tools, equipment when needed (e.g. compaction jumping jacks, cut saws, air compressors and generators, a trencher, backhoe, excavators, directional drills)
· Completes necessary paperwork and related documentation as required by Foreman
· Adheres to all Company safety policies and procedures.
Will perform all other duties as required by Foreman
· Possibly run the site in case Foreman not on site
Qualifications
Valid driver’s G licence
Must provide a clean driving record (abstract) and criminal check prior to employment commencing
· At a minimum, the position requires a good working knowledge of telecommunications construction
· Experience in the utility’s construction field
· Must be able to read prints and have knowledge of the underground process.
· Ability to operate equipment, including, but not limited to a trencher, backhoe, excavators, directional drills.
Comfortable around underground utility services.
Must possess and exhibit strong safety acumen and demonstrate safe work practices.
Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
Good communication skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
Willingness to follow INTUS best practices
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing with managers, peers, and clients and maintain excellent communication between members of the team and clients
Ability to operate all equipment functions independently and safely
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Physical Requirements
Hear and distinguish emergency signals and instructions while on duty.
Must be able to repetitively sit, lift, stoop, bend, squat, kneel, reach and crawl.
Must be able to repeatedly lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Must be able to work in all outdoor elements for extended periods of time.
Confined Space Entry may be required to accomplish tasks for some clients when applicable.
Be able to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
