About the role:
Bellai Alliance Civil Inc. is hiring a Sewer & Water Foreman to lead field crews on municipal heavy civil projects in the Ottawa area. This is a hands-on leadership position responsible for day-to-day planning, crew performance, safety, quality, and coordination with inspectors, clients, and project staff. We’re looking for someone who runs an organized site, communicates clearly, and sets a high standard for workmanship and attitude.
Primary responsibilities
Safety leadership (crew + public)
- Promote and enforce a strong safety culture on every job site
- Ensure compliance with Ontario safety legislation and company procedures
- Complete incident/safety documentation promptly and accurately
- Proactively identify hazards and correct issues in real time
Crew leadership & productivity
- Lead operators, pipelayers, and labourers through daily production goals
- Assign tasks clearly, set expectations, and hold team members accountable
- Maintain work standards and behavioral expectations to support morale and performance
- Plan work with the Manager and organize labour/equipment accordingly
Coordination & communication
- Work collaboratively with subcontractors, inspectors, clients, and internal project teams (PM/PC)
- Follow project schedules and ensure daily/weekly targets are met
- Communicate constraints, locates, changes, and next steps to keep work moving
Technical execution & quality
- Plan, execute, and supervise installation of sewer and water systems
- Ensure work meets drawings/specifications and best-practice installation methods
- Inspect completed work, address deficiencies quickly, and drive timely solutions
- Train and mentor crew members on procedures and construction best practices
Administrative
- Complete required daily reports and other site documentation as needed
Working conditions
- Work performed on active construction sites
- Outdoor work in all conditions (heat, rain, etc.)
- Occasional nights/weekends may be required depending on project needs
Qualifications
- 3+ years of FOREMAN position (will require reference checks)
- 5+ years of heavy civil field experience with strong sewer & water exposure
- Demonstrated experience supervising crews (Foreman or strong Lead Hand ready to step up)
- Ability to plan work, manage resources, and deliver safe production
- Strong communication skills with crew, inspectors, and project staff
