Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented Financial Analyst to support financial planning, reporting, operational analysis, and business performance initiatives across a dynamic organization. This role partners closely with cross-functional teams, including Commercial, Finance, Human Resources, Operations, and senior leadership, to deliver meaningful insights, improve financial processes, and support strategic decision-making.
This is a six-month contract position. The role is hybrid, with four days per week in our North York office
.
Key Responsibilitie
Financial Reporting & Business Analysis
- Support monthly close activities through financial analysis, account reviews, accrual preparation, and variance investigations
- Prepare recurring financial reports and performance dashboards for business leaders and management
- Analyze departmental spending and provide commentary on key trends, risks, and opportunities
- Assist with forecasting, budgeting, and ad hoc financial analysis to support operational and strategic initiatives
- Present actionable insights to stakeholders to improve financial and operational performance
Inventory & Supply Chain Finance
- Coordinate financial processes related to inventory movements, product shipments, and supply chain transactions
- Monitor inventory balances and prepare regular inventory reporting packages
- Maintain cost databases and support the accuracy of inventory-related financial records
- Prepare and reconcile inventory and in-transit accruals as part of the month-end close process
- Investigate and resolve inventory-related variances and discrepancies
Capital Planning & Investment Analysis
- Support the administration and tracking of capital projects and investment spending
- Monitor actual expenditures against approved budgets and forecasts
- Assist in the preparation of financial justifications, business cases, and return-on-investment analyses
- Collaborate with business leaders to evaluate and prioritize capital initiatives
- Provide post-implementation analysis and reporting on completed projects
Commercial & Revenue Analytics
- Deliver sales and profitability analysis to support commercial decision-making
- Generate reports related to customer performance, sales trends, and business profitability
- Support the administration and reconciliation of customer incentive and rebate programs
- Validate financial data and ensure accurate reporting of commercial activities
- Respond to ad hoc analytical requests from business stakeholders
Systems, Reporting & Process Improvement
- Participate in testing and validation activities related to system enhancements and reporting tools
- Identify opportunities to improve reporting efficiency, data quality, and financial processes
- Support automation initiatives and reporting enhancements
- Partner with Finance, Operations, Technology, and Commercial teams to streamline workflows and strengthen controls
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance business performance and reporting accuracy
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, Economics, or a related discipline
- 4+ years of experience in financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, accounting, or business finance
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
- Experience supporting month-end close, budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting activities
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial reporting tools
- Experience working with ERP systems, business intelligence platforms, or data visualization tools is an asset
- Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with both financial and operational stakeholders
- Exposure to capital investment analysis, operational finance, inventory accounting, or commercial finance is considered an asset
