Experienced Fiber Splicer Jobs in Wheaton, IL at ACT (American Cable and Telephone)
ACT is actively hiring an experienced Fiber Splicer to join our growing underground fiber optic construction team. We are looking for someone who takes pride in clean, organized work, understands the importance of uptime and quality, and can operate independently in the field.
This is not an entry-level position. We need someone with real-world experience in fiber splicing, troubleshooting, testing, and network turn-up within underground utility and broadband construction environments.
Responsibilities:
- Perform fiber optic splicing on single-mode and ribbon fiber
- Read and interpret fiber prints, splice matrices, and network diagrams
- Conduct OTDR testing, power meter testing, and fiber troubleshooting
- Build and maintain splice enclosures, cabinets, handholes, and vaults
- Ensure all work meets customer specifications and quality standards
- Coordinate with construction crews, drill crews, and project management
Requirements:
- Minimum 3+ years of fiber splicing experience preferred
- Experience with underground fiber construction projects
- Strong knowledge of OTDR testing and fiber troubleshooting
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- Experience working with major ISP or utility projects is a plus

Pay: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour
